Honour Society Application and Election

We invite you to get involved with Honour Society’s Executive Board! The purpose of our organization is to provide the students of Oxford Preparatory Academy Saddleback Valley (“OPA”) for an academic, physical and social education to benefit our school. The objective of our organization is to support the philosophy of OPA and promote a closer understanding and cooperation between parents, teachers and students.

Below please find the timeline of our deadline for elections:

April 16, 2018Open positions announced at Honour Society general meeting. For further notification to stakeholders, this handout will also be posted on our Honour Society website, a link will be posted on Facebook and a copy will be sent home to all members, including families and staff. Teachers, general members and all previous board members are eligible to run in the election for all positions attached hereto.

April 30, 2018 – Any interested member who would like to run for an open position will need to reach out to the Parliamentarian via email at: oxfordsvhsparliamentarian@gmail.com by 8:00 p.m. PST to have their name added to the election. Please email your contact information, the position you would like to run for and provide a paragraph as to why you would make a great candidate for the position.

May 2, 2018 – Announcement of Candidates will be posted on the Honour Society website, a link will be posted on the Honour Society Facebook page, and a copy will be posted in front of the OPA SV office.

May 21, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. – Election will be held during the general membership meeting. If there are more than two candidates for the same Executive Board position, those present at the meeting will conduct the election by paper ballot. At 8:30 p.m. the general board meeting will take a recess while ballots are being tallied by the Parliamentarian and Vice President of Finance Operations, to be overseen by an OPA Administrator or Designee (such as a member of the Oxford Preparatory Academy Board of Directors).  Once tallying begins, no additional ballots will be accepted. After completion of tallying the votes, the general meeting will resume to conclude any remaining business matters and to announce the winners of the election. The winners positions will take effect on July 1, 2018. In between them getting elected and taking office, the current Executive Board members holding the position will train them.
