Executive Director Weekly Update 12/21/2018

Dear OPA Families,

We had quite a week at OPA!

OPA administration submitted all remaining MOU items to CUSD and met with District personnel. They were pleased with our demonstration of commitment and organizational improvement. I will keep you fully informed about next steps and key dates.

OCDE and CUSD dignitaries and Kobe Bryant visited OPA to learn more about how our fourth graders are learning by integrating technology with the Multiple Intelligences (MI) model. How schools use technology in the classroom is one of the most talked about issues in education today.

As part of our continued focus in driving student learning with technology, OPA is announcing Tech Challenge 2019 for the new year, where students at SOC and Saddleback Valley will develop podcasts that teach their peers valuable lessons.

When we return from break OPA Saddleback Valley will lead the way in developing our English Learner Development (ELD) program to ensure learners in OPA classrooms acquire full proficiency in English as rapidly and effectively as possible and within a reasonable period to achieve the same rigorous grade-level academic standards that are expected of all students.

In closing, our Board Chairman, Joseph Haney, has asked me to share a message from Board Secretary, Priscilla Trichet that captures the Board members gratitude for families and employees:

We are a community with many gifts and talents, which we share daily with one another and most important, our students. To our administrative team, teachers, staff, Honour Society board members and all who work daily in our schools and offices, we wish you all a blessed and joyful holiday season filled with love, happy memories and rest.  You help make profound, positive and lasting differences in the lives of students, who will remember you with great fondness, respect and gratitude, long after they have grown and moved on. Lastly, Parents! You are wished happy holidays – the special kind that bring pleasant hours, joyful hearts and so many lovely things. You are also wished much happiness, rest and precious time with your love ones.  Thank you for entrusting us with your most precious gift. May all the very nicest and best things come your way and may this new year bring to all of you, health, happiness, peace and everything that makes you smile.

I also wish you the best and thank you for the affection and support you give me.

Sincerely,

Jill
