Happy Holidays OPA!

December 18, 2020

Dear OPA Families and Staff,

As we all start the holiday break, I want to thank everyone for an incredible year. Although there have been many challenges, our OPA community has grown stronger, closer, and more resilient through 2020, and our champions have gained valuable academic, social, emotional, and life skills. As we move into 2021, we will continue to improve our programs and provide even more opportunities for our champions to excel.

We know that this holiday break will be unlike those in the past, and our champions may be looking for things to do to occupy some of their time. Therefore, our staff has put together a list of enrichment and academic activities for each grade level. These are completely voluntary but will help our champions maintain and even strengthen their skills over the winter break. You can access the list on our website.

Over the winter break, we will continue to monitor the data regarding the virus. At this time, we are planning to still have hybrid instruction after the break. However, with rising case numbers and currently no available ICU beds in the Southern California region, we may revert to 100% virtual learning for a period of time after the break. We will be sure to give families time to plan for childcare needs, if this becomes necessary. Therefore, I encourage you to check your email throughout the break for any communications from OPA. We all agree that it is best for students to be at school, but our main priority always has to be the health and safety of our staff, students, and families.

Just a reminder, classes will resume on January 11, 2021. If your family has traveled outside of California over break or attended any large gatherings, please quarantine for 14 days before returning to in person instruction. During any quarantine time, students may attend all classes virtually, so that no instructional time is lost. Please reach out to the school attendance office and your champion’s professors if he/she is currently a hybrid student and needs to switch to quarantine after break.

Thank you for your patience and support of our OPA champions. I am grateful for all of you and wish you all a wonderful break. Here’s to hope, here’s to an end to the virus, here’s to all being together again soon! Here’s to 2021! Have an incredible Holiday and a Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

The OPA Administrative Team
